Newborn hip ultrasound in Pozzallo
Newborn hip ultrasound performed personally by the radiologist, by appointment, at the practice in Pozzallo (RG), Italy. Report and explanation at the end of the scan.
What it is for
Ultrasound screening of the hips in newborns and infants (Graf method) to rule out dislocation or developmental hip dysplasia. Indicated in the first weeks of life, in the presence of risk factors (breech birth, family history, oligohydramnios) or suspicious clinical findings; often repeated at follow-up.
Why it is done
Done in the first weeks of life to rule out a hip that has not formed well or that comes out of place, especially if there are risk factors or the paediatrician requests it.
How it works
The baby stays lying down or in the parent's arms. A small probe is passed over the hips, with gel.
What I check
We check whether the baby's hip is mature and stable, using the method used in paediatrics (Graf).
