How much it costs
€80, whatever the scan: it includes the scan, the written report handed to you straight away and an explanation of the findings. Full details on the fee.

How much does the scan cost?
€80, the same for every scan. The written report, the images and the explanation at the end are included. See the fee page.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
For a private exam it is not required. If you have a referral, bring it with you, along with any previous scans: it helps guide the ultrasound.
Do I need to fast?
Yes, for 6-8 hours, for upper or complete abdominal ultrasound, kidney ultrasound and Doppler of the abdominal aorta and renal arteries. It is not needed for the other exams.
Do I need a full bladder?
Only for lower abdominal, pelvic and urinary tract ultrasound: drink about a litre of water one hour before and do not urinate until the exam.
How long does the exam take?
It depends on the scan: usually between 10 and 30 minutes, and you will find the typical duration on each scan’s page. At the end I give you the report and explain in plain words what was found.
Are there any contraindications? Can it be done during pregnancy?
There are no contraindications. Ultrasound uses sound waves, not ionising radiation: it can also be done during pregnancy and repeated as often as needed.
Can I go back to my usual activities after the scan?
Yes, straight away, including driving: the gel is wiped off and no recovery time is needed. If you were fasting, you can eat as soon as it is over.
