What it is and what it is for

The Doppler ultrasound of the supra-aortic trunks studies the carotid arteries and the neck vessels that carry blood to the head. It assesses the blood flow and any presence of narrowing or plaques. It is one of the most useful cardiovascular prevention exams.

When to have it

It is particularly recommended with increasing age and in the presence of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking or a family history of cardiovascular problems. It is often requested by your doctor as a preventive check. Quite simply, it is an exam that brings peace of mind.

How it works and preparation

No preparation is needed. You lie down and I place the probe on your neck with a little gel, studying the flow in the carotid arteries. No needles, no radiation, no discomfort. The exam is complete in a few minutes and I give you the report, explaining what was found.
